About the Event

Join us this Memorial Day Weekend, starting Sunday, May 24 at 4PM for "Resilience," our next Constellations Virtual Concert! This concert celebrates humanity's inner strength in times of crisis and the importance of heartfelt support from family and friends.

As usual, the performance will be posted on our home page (www.constellationsmusic.org) as well as on our Facebook page, and available online for 72 hours to enjoy at your convenience. Access to the video is free and we encourage you to continue to spread the word and share with family and friends.  We hope you've been enjoying our virtual offerings so far - announcements will be coming soon about some exciting changes to the format and ways we're reaching audiences who need music the most during this time!

This week's concert brings us a rare treat during the pandemic: the entire Pogossian Family Quintet, a string quartet plus clarinet who (fortunately for us) are quarantined together in southern California!  The Pogossian family is bursting with musical talent - mom Varty is a violinist in the Los Angeles Philharmonic, dad Movses teaches at the UCLA School of Music, and siblings Eddie, Cara, and Anoush have all been featured on NPR's From the Top and have star-studded resumes from the nation's top conservatories.

The program will feature the following works:

Johannes Brahms: Clarinet Quintet in B Minor, Op. 115

                    Allegro

           Komitas: Armenian Folk Miniatures

                    The Red Shawl

                    Spring

                    Clouds

                    The Partridge

Ian Krouse: Hov Arek (Come, Breeze), after Komitas

Artistic Director Ellen Hwangbo will host a discussion panel with the Pogossians and composer Ian Krouse to discuss their insights into the program and the story behind Ian's work.

A big THANK YOU to Hae-Soon Hahn & Steve Rosenbaum, Lenore & Paul Brantley, Judy Kotulis, Nancy Riker, James Dwyer, Luis Perez, Werner Schumann, and Parker Finn for sponsoring the musicians for our seventh Constellations Virtual Concert!

All of our Virtual Concert programs are crafted by the Programming Committee and specially performed by the artists in their own home for the Constellations audience.  You can donate online by clicking here or texting CONSTELLATIONS to 44-321.  All contributions for this campaign will go 100% to the artists!

Special thanks to Hae-Soon Hahn & Steve Rosenbaum for sponsoring the Constellations Programming Committee for our entire Virtual Concerts project!
